THE GraS HYPOTHESIS: A MODEL FOR DARK MATTER-BARYONS GRAVITATIONAL INTERACTION
نویسندگان
چکیده
According to the gravitational suppression (GraS) hypothesis the gravitational interaction between exotic (dark) and standard (visible) matter is suppressed below the kpc scales. We review the phenomenological motivations at the basis of this idea and its formal implementation by means of a Yukawa contribution to the usual Newtonian potential. We also discuss a class of astrophysical phenomena that may help in testing this scenario.

The Gravitational Suppression Hypothesis: Dynamical Analysis in the Small Velocity Regime
In a previous paper we have proposed a non–Newtonian, phenomenological description of the effective gravitational force acting between exotic dark matter and baryons, which was shown to fit well the kinematics in the inner regions of low surface brightness, gas–rich galaxies. The Gravitational Suppression (GraS) scheme is, admittedly, an ad-hoc model; it does however successfully address intere...
متن کاملModel for gravitational interaction between dark matter and baryons.
We propose a phenomenological model where the gravitational interaction between dark matter and baryons is suppressed on small, subgalactic scales. We describe the gravitational force by adding a Yukawa contribution to the standard Newtonian potential and show that this interaction scheme is effectively suggested by the available observations of the inner rotation curves of small mass galaxies....

We provide a simple toy model to elucidate the effects of baryonic cooling on predictions of the convergence power spectrum in weak gravitational lensing. Our model suggests that the effects of baryonic cooling on dark matter halo profiles can alter the dark matter power spectrum at k ∼ 10hMpc and lead to percent level changes in the convergence angular power spectrum at wavenumbers of several ...
متن کاملA Dark-Disk Universe
We point out that current constraints on dark matter imply only that the majority of dark matter is cold and collisionless. A subdominant fraction of dark matter could have much stronger interactions. In particular, it could interact in a manner that dissipates energy, thereby cooling into a rotationally-supported disk, much as baryons do. We call this proposed new dark matter component Double-...

We utilize existing imaging and spectroscopic data for the galaxy clusters MS2137-23 and Abell 383 to present improved measures of the distribution of dark and baryonic material in the clusters’ central regions. Our method, based on the combination of gravitational lensing and dynamical data, is uniquely capable of separating the distribution of dark and baryonic components at scales below 100 ...
